The morning-after drink with its affairs in order. Tomato juice, vodka, lemon and Worcestershire, with a Voodoo Salt rim doing work a celery stick can only dream about. Built in a jug for a crowd, or one careful glass for the quietly suffering. Nobody needs to know which you are.
10 mins. Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 750ml tomato juice, cold
- 1 dessertspoon Plateit Voodoo Salt
- 240ml vodka
- 60ml lemon juice
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Hot sauce, a few dashes, optional
- Celery stalks + olives, to garnish
- Ice, plenty
Method
- Tip most of the 1 dessertspoon of Plateit Voodoo Salt onto a saucer. Run a lemon wedge around four glass rims and press them into it.
- Jug: tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, Worcestershire, hot sauce if the table votes for it, and the last pinch of the salt.
- Stir hard with a big handful of ice for 30 seconds. Stirred, never shaken. Shaken goes frothy and wrong.
- Pour into the rimmed glasses over fresh ice.
- Celery and olives in. Serve before anyone changes their mind about the day.
Swap it: Leave the vodka out and it is a Virgin Mary that still tastes like it has a past.
