Everyone makes this. Most people make it badly. The avocado wants salt and acid before it goes anywhere near the bread, and the honey goes on last so the heat is still sitting on top rather than soaking in.
10 minutes. Serves 2.
Ingredients
- 2 thick slices sourdough
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 dessertspoons Plateit Hot Honey Drizzle
- Half a lemon
- Flaky salt, black pepper
Method
- Toast the sourdough hard. It needs to hold up.
- Smash the avocado in a bowl with lemon and a good pinch of salt. Keep it coarse. Do not make a paste.
- Pile it on the toast and press it into the corners.
- Hot honey over the top, then pepper. Eat it standing up if that is how the morning is going.
Tip: Salt the avocado, not the toast. Salt on the bread just makes it taste of salt.
